Review: Gendonia 2

Gedonia 2 is an open-world action RPG from a solo developer that builds upon the first installment on a larger scale and with more depth. The game combines classic RPG elements with real-time combat and free exploration, drawing clear inspiration from older RPGs but incorporating its own ideas.

Gedonia 2 is an open-world action RPG from a solo developer that builds upon the first installment on a larger scale and with more depth. The game combines classic RPG elements with real-time combat and free exploration, drawing clear inspiration from older RPGs but incorporating its own ideas.

The story takes place in a more developed world with an emphasis on factions and political conflicts. Players start small but quickly become involved in larger events. Choices have noticeable consequences, particularly through factions and branching dialogue. The dialogue is not perfect, but it is sincere, and much of the story is revealed through exploration.

Missions are varied, with a strong emphasis on side missions and dynamic events that make the world reactive. Decisions can have unexpected consequences later on, which provides extra depth.

The combat is real-time and more tactical than before, with improved melee and a lot of freedom in character development via an extensive skill tree. Players can create a variety of builds, which increases replayability. Enemy enemies and companions add extra strategy.

Exploration is one of the strongest points: a large, diverse world full of secrets, dungeons, and activities. Crafting, loot, and base building provide additional gameplay possibilities alongside combat and questing.

The game also features cooperative multiplayer, in which players can explore the world and fight together, with shared but partially host-dependent progression.

Audiovisually, there is clear progress: better lighting, atmosphere, and effects, despite the simple low-poly style. The soundtrack and ambient sounds enhance immersion, although there are still technical imperfections.

In short: Gedonia 2 offers an extensive, free RPG experience with plenty of choice, strong exploration, and high replayability, despite some technical and presentation limitations.
