At CES in January, Dell subsidiary Alienware announced it is working on a more affordable laptop, positioned below the Aurora and Area 51 models. The new entry-level model features a plastic chassis that, thanks to its “Nova Black” coating, is intended to look somewhat metallic. At 2.3 cm thick, the laptop is relatively compact.
On the sides of the Alienware 15 there are two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI connector, an Ethernet port, and a DC barrel jack for charging the device. The 15.3-inch LCD display has a 1920×1200 resolution, a 165 Hz refresh rate, and limited sRGB coverage of 62.5 percent.
The laptop will be available with both Intel and AMD processors, with the AMD version costing €999 in the Benelux. In addition to the Ryzen 5 220 CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, this configuration also includes a 512 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM. Since the laptop has two SODIMM slots, the memory can be easily upgraded by the user. There is no room for an additional SSD.
The Intel variant has the same amount of RAM and storage, and also allows for an extra RAM module. It includes a Core 7 240H processor, paired with a more powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card rated at 85W. This model will be available here for €1,429 and is already on sale. A cheaper Intel configuration priced at €1,079 is also planned for a later release, but it is not yet clear what hardware it will include.
